Iliad Design 1/48 Beechcraft C-45s
Iliad Design has released decal sheet for 1/48 C-45s. For kits, there’s really only 2 options, ICM and Revell. However, if you want to do the second option you might want to use the ICM kit.
The decal set arrived form Iliad decals in a stout cardboard envelope. The subjects of this sheet are:
- SNB-2H hospital aircraft, NAS Jacksonville
- UC-45J NAS Atsugi, Japan, the mid-1960s
- AT-7C, approx 1948
The set contains just the aircraft specific decals and you would use any stencils from the kit you’re using.
The contents of this set are:
- 1 double-sided colour sheet of instructions
- 1 21 cm x 14 cm decal sheet
The instruction sheet is well done and covers everything you need to know. The front of the instruction sheet shows the port sides of all 3 aircraft and a short description of them. It names all the colours used as well as giving you particulars about that particular aircraft such as the astrodome You can see the panel lines so you can use those to aid you in decal placement. The reverse of the sheet shows the top view of each aircraft and the decals underneath the wings are faintly displayed in this view so you can see where they are placed.
The UC-45J has the longer nacelles seen on many post-war aircraft and they helpfully point out you can get a resin conversion set from Belcher Bits to add the extended wing roots and longer nacelles. On Belcher Bits’ website, it says their conversion kit is designed for the ICM C-45 kit.
The decal sheets, as you can see in the photographs and the video, are perfectly in register and the colours appear to be correct too. The backing film is minimal to non-existent except in places where it is needed to line things up in the text.
This set is available for $12.00 from Iliad Design’s site. This price is as good as I’ve seen anywhere else on the internet so you might as well buy them from the publisher.
This is a very nice decal set with some interesting options.
Many thanks to Iliad Design for the review sample.
